24 Jan Big News: Announcing Amy
So the last time I had Big News, I started this blog. Now I have Big News again, so I’m bringing my blog back out of retirement. I’ll say right off the bat, there was no pregnancy announcement last time, and if you’re holding your breath waiting for one this time, you should also be dialing 911 for when you pass out. No one is pregnant.
OK, glad we cleared that up.
The actual news which I am SO excited to share is that the fabulous Amy Stapp has joined Wolfson Literary Agency as a new agent!!! Welcome, Amy!!!
Also, I’m going away for a month and Amy will be handling everything. Just kidding, Amy! For now.
So I totally stole Amy away from Macmillan/Tor where she had been working for the last 7 years.
Wait, that’s not exactly what happened.
Amy actually decided com-puh-lete-ly on her own to make a switch from the editorial side to the agenting side (I know, my way was more fun). Actually, I think my first response was, “Nooooo, don’t leave us!!!” since Amy was the editor for WLA client Jessica Pennington. But Amy was determined.
Clearly there was only one path forward: I had to convince her to come work here.
In all seriousness, I’ve known Amy since she was an awesome editorial assistant, and then she started acquiring books. Then she acquired one of mine, and then some more, and she was an incredible advocate on the publishing house side. I can’t wait to see what she does for her clients as an agent, but I’m pretty sure the sky’s the limit.
I hope you’ll join me in welcoming Amy to Wolfson Literary Agency!
That seems like such a great place to end this post, but it’s been such a long time since I’ve written and I’m worried that was a drop vague. What I really meant by that last sentence is go welcome Amy in the comments and then check out Amy’s bio and submissions page and if your tastes overlap, then send her a query letter!
Ok, now I’m really done. But we’ll be back because we’ll be blogging more. Amy, too! So keep an eye out. Now I’m done. Now.
I mean I’m almost done.
It’s just that hiring Amy inspired a new website, a new blog design (still being slowly unveiled), and all kinds of great changes, and that felt like more of a post for the new year. So quickly, before it’s too late to call this a new year’s post, I’m declaring this the official start of 2019 welcome, Amy post.
OK, I’m done. Go comment. What are you waiting for??
