11 Jun Crap, It’s Fill-in-the-Blank Again
Crap. Just plain crap.
It’s Monday. It’s June. It’s the end of the school year. It’s almost camp.
Just CRAP, It’s fill-in-the-blank again, and I got nothin’.
Nothing but promises of all the posts from days gone by.
Like follow up discussions of #ontheread. More book discussions of #onthecouch. And these will come.
But clearly, I am once again cracking under the pressure of posting on command.
Therefore, I free myself of all the guilt (I’m not really one for self-flagellation after all), and instead promise to post soon.
And by soon, I mean I hope it will be soon, but really it’s when the mood strikes.
So get off my case already.
Oops, did I type that? I meant: So either keep checking, or sign up for email delivery.
Hey, and tell me, are you reading The Lords of Discipline?

Posted at 11:40h, 11 JuneSo glad it’s not just me cracking under the pressure of all those things you mentioned. Who are all these people who think summer is a lazy time for families anyway????????? I’m actually quite glad you aren’t ready to discuss yet as I’m only halfway through TLOD. I’m greatly enjoying the fantastic and detailed description as well as the colorful vocabulary…and here I thought the word “concupiscent” would be forever relegated to the film “THREESOME.” …
I am looking forward to hearing more as to why this is your ONE book. This is a subject I always find fascinating, but I am especially curious as to why this one makes you tick?
Zen blogging, Daisy, tee hee. Love it.

Posted at 16:03h, 12 JuneI read The Lords of Discipline years ago. In the middle of a Pat Conroy binge. It wasn’t my favorite.
As far as blogging–I’m feeling the summer blues, too. I’m here for inspiration.

Posted at 08:51h, 14 JuneHmm, not sure I’m going to help with the blogging inspiration. But maybe once I get my sh*t together, I’ll be able to convince you why TLOD is my favorite Conroy novel. But I know how that can happen. When you read several of an author’s books all at once and you don’t love them all equally.
I remember reading Atlas Shrugged in high school and loving it and reading The Fountainhead right after and feeling a little over Ayn Rand by the time I got to it. If I’d waited a year, maybe I wouldn’t have been so tired of the preachy passages. I think I just read it too soon. Sometimes a binge isn’t the best. BUt we get so drawn in by an author we can’t help ourselves. 🙂

Posted at 23:47h, 17 JuneI’m always captivated by a voice I love. I can’t help it. I’m sure you’re right. Too much Conroy at once.

Posted at 23:18h, 13 JuneOk, gotta be quick because it’s like a million o’clock here and people need to be sent to bed…. (or at least outa my bed with their choco-crunchies and popcorn)… but I just had to let you know how you are influencing the world with your book choice.
I was drivning my kid to school this morning for his Driver’s Ed class and I saw a kid wandering down the street wearing the tee-shirt that the kids who completed the school Iron Man triathlon this spring ( *proud mama gush* my boy included) earned. And as I pointed him out to my son, I said, “There goes an Iron Man. I know he is an Iron Man because he wears the shirt.” (and yes, my child was greatly astonished at my vast powers of observation, lol. 😉 Actually he has a touch of Asperger’s and was delighted I was quoting from a book in reference to real life. It’s a game we play. 😉 Thanks for the fun!)
