20 Dec Blogging From The Moon
So I’m going on vacation today, but I wanted to leave off with one more post before I go, although of course if something truly shibumi happens, I’ll blog from the moon.
That was me getting ahead of myself. I was thinking something like: I mean I’m just going to Florida. It’s not like I’m going to be on the moon. But somehow it came out as I’ll blog from the moon. I think from here on out, all future vacation posts will be called blogging from the moon.
Oh no. You know what just happened. I had to change the title.
The original title was a reference to the fact that I was thinking about what this last post was going to be about. And in the spirit of the holiday season, I thought I’d spread some holiday cheer.
But then I realized that was a total about face from my whole we can’t wish anyone a happy holidays this year post. Which looking back, was sort of scrooge-y.
But then I realized I’d already done an about face when I admitted how much I really love Thanksgiving in possibly my favorite post yet, which led to the brilliant (if I do say so myself) invention of Procrastinator’s Day!! I still totally think we should do that. It’s on my to-do list for 2012.
Actually, you know who should really be organizing this holiday? The significant others of the procrastinators. But you know what? I think THEY CAN’T HANDLE THE PRESSURE!!!!
But anyway, so I wondered could I do another about face from there? And where does that leave me?? Technically, back at my starting position, but that’s not what this post was going to be at all. So the original title was “I’m Totally Lost.” I know, it was a sucky title anyway. But hey, it wasn’t going to be much of a post.
Because really, all I wanted to do was say happy holidays.
Also, thanks for coming and reading my blog. I’m really excited about 2012 and I can’t wait to share things with you here. And in the real world of course. Like Twitter. Just kidding, I know Twitter isn’t real. Is it?? I meant in the bookstores and stuff. Wait, those are still real, right??
Ok, Merry Chanukah! See you in 2012.
It’s going to be so shibumi.

Posted at 11:38h, 20 DecemberWhat does shibumi mean when you use it? That’s what caught my interest on my blog roll. The context I use that word is with Japanese tie-dye. I don’t think that’s what you mean. I googled it, but want to know your definition.

Posted at 21:23h, 20 DecemberYour comment cracked up me and my husband for some reason. I wanted to come up with a signature phrase and at first I started with “Holy Krakatoa” but then it evolved to Shibumi. I use it to mean SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!! although what would be SO SHIBUMI is if you could someday google Shibumi and find that definition. Or it got added to the dictionary.
In any case, if you read through a few old posts you can find where it started. If you know how to sort by tags, you can look for it. But otherwise, the first signature phrase post was called something like Yeah something. And I forget where I came up with Shibumi. I think I said that already. But it’s there. And worth finding (I think).

Posted at 00:46h, 23 DecemberOr not…I tried but but apparently, the Japanese novel of the same name is more important to the world. Looks like you’ve got some work to do.
